Where do I find my company authentication code?

It is a 6-character code issued by Companies House that authorises online filing, much like an officer’s signature. Companies House posts it to your company’s registered office. If you cannot reach that address you can ask for it to go to a home address, and it is not sent by email or given over the phone. You can also request it through your Companies House WebFiling account.

Treat it like a bank card PIN: anyone who knows it can change your company’s details online. Once it is on your Kofolio card it stays hidden until you press show.

What is my Corporation Tax UTR, and how do I find it?

The UTR is the reference HMRC uses for your company’s Corporation Tax. It appears on previous tax returns and other documents from HMRC. If you do not have it, a limited company can request its Corporation Tax UTR online. HMRC sends it to the address registered at Companies House.

What is the difference between the PAYE employer reference and the Accounts Office reference?

The employer PAYE reference is a 3-digit tax office number, a forward slash and an employer reference, such as 123/AB456. It is on your P60 and on letters from HMRC about PAYE. The Accounts Office reference has 13 characters, such as 123PX00123456. It is on letters from HMRC about PAYE, and on the letter you got when you registered as an employer. Kofolio keeps both on the company card.

Is Kofolio free?

Yes, for up to 10 companies. You do not need a card, and you sign in with an email code. Paid plans for bigger teams come later, and until they launch everything stays free.

Where are my company details stored?

Accepted Answer

Your companies are stored in your Kofolio account and are never shared. Sensitive values, such as the authentication code and the UTR, are hidden on screen until you press show. Your companies are also kept on the device you use so Kofolio opens instantly.

Does Kofolio file anything with Companies House or HMRC for me?

Accepted Answer

No. Kofolio keeps your numbers and copies them. Quick links open Companies House, WebFiling and HMRC online, where you file as usual.

Can my AI assistant change my numbers?

Accepted Answer

Only after you connect it. Add kofolio.com/mcp as a connector in an assistant that supports them, such as Claude or ChatGPT, and sign in with your email code. It can then read your companies and save new values, such as a new EORI or VAT number. It sees every company on your account.

Can I keep more than one company?

Yes. Each company is its own card, and you switch between them with the number keys 1 to 9 or the switcher.
